One toolbar to edit, add, delete and move all contents

The toolbar enables you to move, delete and edit sections with a click. If you want to select a new content (section), simply click on the green plus symbol and select the fitting type from an extensive collection. With the red cross symbol you can delete sections, and move any section up or down with the arrows. A website consists of as many sections as you like, which are placed one below the other. Each section can consists of any content type you desire. When you are logged on, the toolbar will appear as soon as you move the mouse across a section. Since all contents are edited this way (also in the sidebar), you will know your way around immediately. It could hardly be any easier.

Consistent operating and dialogues – For an optimal start

The dialogues are available in a neat overview. Since page4 provides considerably more options for adapting design and contents to your own wishes, many dialogues are made up of index cards. They are consistently operated and easy to handle.

Unlimited contents for your website

The largest part of your website will probably consist of texts and images. However, there are a lot of additional content elements (contents) that enable you to design your website in the easiest of ways. You can present images in galleries, include foreign code, e.g. to display the weather, link videos from YouTube and other platforms, create lines for designing, publish a guestbook and contact forms, and many more.

The largest part of your website will probably consist of texts and images. Isn’t it great that page4 even supports you with two text editors? Our tiny editor offers you a great amount of functions - however, you can also switch to the “old” editor at any time.

Extensive functions: Many design kits use the Tiny Editor, however only a few enable as many functions as page4. For even more freedom of design we have extended the editor with additional fonts and smileys. When you are using fonts you should consider that not every font is available on every computer and that visitors might perceive your website in a different way than you do, when fonts are missing. If that doesn’t matter to you, you can choose from diversified font styles for designing your website.

Table function: If you wish to use the editor for creating tables, you require the premium version. The extensive possibilities are explained in detail in our help guide.

Formatting via the design template: When you are writing a text, the HTML command “p” is used for saving. Text with this distinction is formatted via the design fonts in the design template. This has the advantage that you can redesign the complete text of all sites with a simple mouse click. Additional formatting, such as bold, italic print and colours, which are created with the editor, will remain, even if you change the design font. If you are using a light-coloured font on a dark background, you should set the colour via the design fonts by all means to save work.

With the sidebar content you can display any message from your Twitter account in your sidebar. Simply create it, enter the name of the Twitter account, save and you’re ready to go. You’ll know what’s being twittered straight away.

Do you want constant up-to-date and interesting images changing on a daily basis? Then go ahead and use our Flickr content and have the latest images delivered directly to your website. Of course you can change the look and adapt it to your desires as with almost all of our contents.

Our XHTML section is your door to the so-called widgets. You can insert a great amount of codes and extend your website in an extreme way. Please keep in mind that any foreign code influences the whole website and certain functions might be disturbed. For this reason you should always only include one new code and then test your website to find errors at an early stage. For safety purposes execution in admin mode is blocked. This is necessary for removing erroneous code if necessary. Have fun trying it out.

Search engine optimised. Our system page4 creates a clean code and contains everything you need to have your site found with Google. When your website is ready you should register the address with Google to be found more quickly. If you have provided good content and the respective keywords and regularly enter the latest content, you will soon find that Google is considering your website. There are additional options on the purchase version for even better Google search results.

The most modern high-efficiency server and optimised programming make sure that page4 is one of the fastest systems on the market. We are constantly working on making page4 even faster.

With the free version you can enter the meta tags of author, title, description and keywords for your whole site. With the premium version you have the additional option to provide a targeted description and keywords for individual sites. This is easily possible in the site manager by selecting a site, editing the option and entering the description and the keywords there. In this way you can design your website in an even more search engine-friendly way.

Good to know: You want to use Google Analytics and know what’s going on? With the premium version this is possible in seconds. We set up a special field for this purpose. If you are using the Google Webmaster tools to manage your website, you can also copy the code into this field for verifying your website.

Optimal image display

We love images and are therefore offering you a lot of functions and options to display your images in the perfect way. It’s important to know: If you upload your images in the same size you are displaying the images on your website, you can be sure that the quality of the images will not be changed in any way. Everything remains crisp and clear. If you reduce the size of your images with the page4 functions, the images need to be calculated new.

Insert as many images next to each other as you like...

Usually you can insert one image for one text section, either on the right or the left side of the text. The file index “Image attacher” is specifically available for this purpose. You can use a great number of options for applying a caption or a link.

However, these 4 men were inserted into our text with a trick. All you need to do is use a small trick and know that the images on your website are always provided with the path "/image-name.jpg". Click on the editing field of the editor with the right mouse button and select the “Insert/change image” function. Then enter the address of your image in the appearing dialogue and save it all. If the address is correct, your image will be displayed immediately. Please only upload images in the right size. You can reduce the size of images with the mouse, but it will always be the original image that is uploaded, which could reduce the speed of your website. Have fun trying it out.

Videos from YouTube and other platforms

Play as many videos from portals on your website as you like

Our video content supports four of the largest video portals. Simply create content, open the portal directly from the dialogue, select the desired video, copy the link and insert it into the content. Test the link, save and ready. It’s child’s play and a lot of fun. For playing the videos please leave the admin mode.

It is very easy: Add a new "Extern Video" content, open the content, click "link new video", open YouTube and copy the link (for example, the link from this video is "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA5QLuE8PmY&feature=related") in the clipboard, go back to the content, paste the link, check and save. Logout and watch the video. Thats all.

Automatically display changing videos from YouTube

With our YouTube content you can automatically display videos of a certain category. This means you don’t search for a video yourself but simply command “Show me the video with the best evaluation” or “The latest videos” etc. In this way you always provide for a change on your website. However you cannot control exactly which content is shown since YouTube delivers it automatically.

Galleries and flash slide shows

Present your favourite images on your page4 homepage with one of our galleries. Simply upload the images and connect them with a gallery. Ready. You can create as many galleries as you like. One click on a preview shows your visitors the crisp and clear original of the respective picture.

Flash Slide Show

With the flash slide show you can present your images to your visitors in an automatic slide show. If desired, also in full-screen mode. You can adapt the width of the slide show to your design. As a standard the content width is 700 pixels. Especially if you are using a design with a sidebar, you should check the width.

It’s important to know: If you upload your images in the same size you are displaying the images on your websites, you can be sure that the quality of the images will not be changed in any way. Everything remains crisp and clear. In a gallery, images can be displayed in a max. height or width of 1000 pixels. In this way your images will also be crystal clear on large screens. Images in the slide show are always scaled to the full screen size in the “Full-screen” option.

Upload and include as many images at the same time as you like

With the premium version you don’t only have more space, you can also save time by uploading as many images as you like into your website at the same time. As an example you can create a gallery, open it for editing, select and upload as many images as you like from your hard drives at the same time. After the upload all images are selected and can be included in the gallery with only a mouse click. That saves a lot of time.

You can make sure that your page4 website comes to life by means of automated contents. We offer you different content types which automatically upload the latest contents and display them on your website.

Of course our RSS feed content enables you to include your own feeds. To make things easier for you we have already added several feeds directly which you can include in your website with one click. The messages listed after this section were created with this content and are automatically updated as soon as the provider publishes new messages.
